Our own Brandone Morrell was on the scene for the Shenandoah concert and snapped some in concert pics for Backstage Pass. If you have been hiding under a rock and don’t know their history…

Shenandoah is a celebrated American country band that emerged from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, in 1984, bringing a blend of heartland storytelling and soulful harmonies to the genre’s forefront. Founded by Marty Raybon, Mike McGuire, Jim Seales, Ralph Ezell, and Stan Thorn, the group quickly gained fame with their debut album in 1987 and their breakout follow-up The Road Not Taken in 1988, which produced multiple chart-topping hits.

During the late 1980s and early 1990s, Shenandoah produced a string of Number One singles—such as “The Church on Cumberland Road,” “Sunday in the South,” “Two Dozen Roses,” and “Next to You, Next to Me”—that became anthems of small-town faith, family, and love. Their collaboration with Alison Krauss on “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart” earned them both a Grammy Award and a Country Music Association Award in 1995.

Shenandoah’s style bridges the gap between traditional and modern country, mixing bluegrass roots with gospel warmth and precision musicianship. Led today by original members Marty Raybon and Mike McGuire, the band continues to record and tour, keeping their timeless classics alive for new generations of country fans.
